Our local partners CIMTROP and their Community Patrol Team are on high alert. Forest and peatland fires are now raging across Borneo. Haze from these fires has shrouded the Sabangau Forest and the city of Palangka Raya for more than a month. Flights have been cancelled, schools closed and air pollutant levels are rated “dangerous” in the city, posing a serious risk to public health.
Fires have already been burning along the Sabangau River, posing a serious threat to the world’s largest orangutan population, plus the huge number of other wildlife species that live in the forest. OuTrop needs your help to support the efforts of the CIMTROP's Community Patrol Team in tackling these devastating fires and provide a secure future for the orangutans, gibbons and other incredible wildlife that call Sabangau home.
