The Waitt Foundation worked with Fundacion Pacifico, the University of Costa Rica, Migra Mar and SINAC in an effort to ground truth the idea that ocean fauna uses waters above the cordillera (submerged mountain range) between the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador and Cocos Island in Costa Rica as a migratory swim way.
The team deployed Baited Remote Underwater Video devices along the area to see if they could find visual evidence of this critical route.
At the end of the expedition groups from both parks and countries had a singing ceremony to commit to work together to protect this singular seascape.
