So yeah, Secret Musician is super cool and I couldn't be happier with the person I got. Christian is probably one of the smartest and most skilled kids I've ever seen. With only 5 years old, this kid manages to upload incredible covers VERY frequently and it is just so inspiring. On top of that, he is an amazing friend! : )
I chose this game and this song because I know how much Christian loves it! And honestly I've never heard of this game so I listened to the whole soundtrack and this song is what stood out for me the most. There are so many layers, so many textures and CRAZY arpeggios playing and I love that so much!
After choosing the song I started to check what are some of Christian's favorite bands, BUT that kid has never listened to a band before, he only listens to VGM people ----what?
So I had very little to work with. HOWEVER, I know he mentioned that he loves Paramore, and I can definitely hear some of their influence in his playing. I started to listen to Paramore for a whole week and got a lot of ideas and put them to work!
Considering the amount of crazy arpeggios that there are in this song I decided to merge it with Protest The Hero influences (my favorite band), and I'm pretty happy with the results!
The arrangement actually took me way longer than I thought it'd take me. Honestly this stuff is way out of my comfort zone. When it comes to pop punk I'm just completely clueless, nevertheless I tried my best and it was fuuuun!
One of my main issues was the transitions and the verses, I tried to follow the same Paramore structure of catchy intro riff, verse, chorus, cooler verse, chorus and so on. What made it so difficult is that since there are no vocals, the verses wont be as entertaining. I tried some syncopation stuff tho, sounded fun i hope you like that one !! second verse is prob my favorite riff, cause im using the intro melody but im chugging it you know but not only a chug its like a -chu-chug - chu-chug - chu-chug. man that sounds cool I really like that! thanks
So there are 10 mins left for this video to upload, and Im very tired, so i will just keep talking. I know I had 3 months to work on this cover Im sorry I procrastinated so much, but im addicted to rocket league, I REALLY love rocket league man, jesus christ what a game, i always play it with my best friends and I have an amazing time but boom there goes 3 hours of my day every day, but you know what, i didnt play rocket league yesterday, i worked 48 hours non stop on this cover, i know i had 3 months. stop sayin that to me christian please dont use caps. Ok 40 seconds left cool i can finally upload this i will sleep now !
