Key After Key - SEE YOU ON (SPD Pirates Vs. Mermaids Remix) Splatterhead 2024-09-28 | Today on "What Project Has Music That SplatterDash Likes":Phighting, a Roblox game that has a surprising amount of hype behind it. The best way I can describe Phighting is kinda like if the gameplay of Team Fortress 2 met the aesthetic of Splatoon. By aesthetic, I mean the general street style, laid back vibe (especially in the main gathering/shopping area known as the Crossroads), and even tournaments. Most recently in fact, there was a tournament that wrapped up which was Pirates vs. Mermaids - a very tropical theme, of course.While I don't really play games too much nowadays, I was drawn into Phighting by its general music album. There are a few songs that are from people outside of the Phighting team that give off the hip-hop/Naganuma vibe, but those are getting phased out for original stuff from what I understand; as for the original songs, they take more of a Splatoon feel to it. I kinda like both feels on the soundtrack, since it gives it some variety and helps to keep things from sounding monotonous.It's funny too that I wanted to do a remix of a song on the Phighting OST but never got the time, yet as soon as I heard the original SEE YOU ON and thought of the Phighting tournament I finished this in a day LOL. Either way, this has both the feel of the original song and the texture of both sides of the tournament - the accordion, guitars and shanty-esque nature of the pirates; the steel drum, tropical and calypso feel of the mermaids, and the swing from the original song to give it a kick. SplatterDash - Upon Stars (Official Release) Splatterhead 2024-09-18 | To say things have been extremely hectic recently - between the technical difficulties of the Treasure Hunt, the work with FNF mods, and IRL matters - is really only scraping the surface of what's been happening recently. But throughout it all I've started listening to the popular "lofi beats to relax/study to" radio during my work, and it's been interesting to listen to a lot of basically underground artists make some chill, simple lofi songs for this radio. In that spirit, this is really my first attempt at anything related to lofi and one of the simplest tracks I've made so far in terms of its composition.I forgor to mention this with the Forest Fire remix, but this is one of the first releases not only done in Live 12, but in Live 12 Standard (I was previously using Live Lite up until recently). This means there's a bunch more tools at my disposal and more room to expand, especially since I'm not limited to eight tracks anymore. Mastering in general is gonna be my focus point from here on in terms of what I look for in my own work and what I wanna improve the most in. I also experimented in one of my weak points - that being hardcore or dubstep-esque bass - without it being the main focal point of the song. (Official Release) Splatterhead 2023-05-18 | I'll be the first to admit I've heard of songs that consist of battles between three people, but this felt different and almost felt like banter at a table, which given the name I think is the point. But the challenge of making that same banter feel energetic and give it a new feel with three different characters was something interesting. A lot of the references in the vocals that I could catch belonging to the original three characters were swapped for references that matched the new characters. Improbable Outset (SPD Remix) - Vs Dami OST Splatterhead 2022-09-25 | Happy (late) Madness Day! As a celebration of the craziest day somewhere in Nevada, I talked to the team at Vs Dami and got permission to show this song, which will be part of the mod (yes, it's FNF). As to why we're doing a cover of Tricky... that's for you all to find out when the mod releases.It was really fun making this - I wanted to try this style for a bit with one of the songs from Tricky, but I also didn't want to go with making a remix of Madness. Not only do I feel there's a lot of remixes of the song out there (and there's REALLY GOOD remixes of it too), but I also think my favorite from the mod is Improbable Outset since it has more of a melodic feel than the other songs. That, and I kinda think it's more of a modern twist on the music in the older Madness Combat animations. At the very least, I think the action of Madness would fit with a more rock-style soundtrack without it being too flashy all of the time, yet the song would still have it's moments to kick some balls.Of course, I also made sure to change things up a bit too and make it a full remix instead of simply a cover of the original, not only to fit the vocals of Tricky and Dami but to give a unique spin on the song. The structure has key elements from the original song, but also some new ones to keep even veteran players on their toes.
