All Things 3D | VR180 Test Video using dual T360s & Skybox V2 @allthings3d | Uploaded 7 years ago | Updated 7 hours ago
Even though this does not conform to the latest standard since Google has not published it I have already determined the format and just need the metadata to inject. Google/YouTube has come up with a neat way reducing streaming bandwidth without compromising the quality. They do this by rotating the left frame 90 degrees counterclockwise, and the right frame 90 degrees clockwise. This effectively allows side by side 180s at 4K, to have the same quality as 360 dual camera using 4K over/under. It should also be noted the equirectangular is also reduced in half by clipping off the sides.
In the future I will fade the edges so the camera lenses are not visible.
Oh one more thing. YouTube now allows you to upload H.265, which means you no longer need to go outside of Adobe Media Encoder to encode over/under at higher than 2K. Yeah!!!!
