In this FLOW-3D HYDRO simulation of a vortex grit separator, particles are introduced at the inlet and are colored by velocity. We can see that most particles are separated by the centrifugal action and fall to the bottom, as the fluid is passing through the baffle and existing at the top outlet. Activating the particle physics model allows users to predict the behavior of particles of varying sizes and densities, enabling them to optimize their designs for maximum particle removal.
