Exclusive, exhilarating, and outright excellent - this limited-run pocket rocket will leave a lasting impression every time you get behind the wheel - the Golf GTI has been almost as historic as the Volkswagen brand itself. It’s without doubt their best-selling model and over the years there have been spin-offs and special editions aplenty. None, however, like the Clubsport S.
Setting a Nurburgring lap time in 2016 of 7 minutes 47 seconds, it put it on par with the likes of the 997 Porsche 911 GT3RS, Lamborghini Murciealgo and the BMW M3 GTS – all cars with much more calibre and presence than the plucky Golf! Limited to just 400 examples worldwide, with only 150 making their way to the UK,, it’s one of the most powerful Golfs ever with a not-insubstantial output of 306BHP.
Our example is a 1 owner, 2016 (66) Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S that has covered 22,100 miles from new and is finished in the most desirable colour combination. It comes with the Convenience Pack, 2 Zone Climatronic Air Conditioning and separate Daytime Running Lights with Automatic Headlight Activation.
The exterior gets the beautiful Deep Black Pearlescent paintwork, which is protected by a Front-End coating of Paint Protection Film. This is offset wonderfully by 19” Silver Pretoria Alloy wheels and Grey ‘Clubsport S’ decals on the sills. Red brake calipers add striking contrast and this is mirrored in the hints of red in the “GTI” Grille and badges.
Inside, the car gets Recaro Wingback Seats as standard, dressed in the ‘Clubsport Cloth’ material. There’s proud ‘GTI’ lettering on the seats and the famous golf ball styling and colour combination running the centre of them. The Golf ball gear stick is still present too! There are no rear seats - just a firm strut brace with a race-inspired luggage net. Performance is at the core of this car and as such any weight-saving measures like this contribute perfectly.
