Understanding the climate crisis is one of the hot topics of the 11th Heidelberg Laureate Forum. In this episode we talk to Maybritt Schillinger, who chaired the panel discussion on climate, about how maths and computer science can help, and we hear from young researchers about the effects climate change has on their countries. We also explore a surprising challenge in pure mathematics with Fields Medallist Efim Zelmanov, and we talk to HLF alumni about what taking part has meant for them.

The Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) is an annual networking conference where 200 carefully selected young researchers in mathematics and computer science spend a week interacting with the laureates of the most prestigious awards in their disciplines: the Abel Prize, ACM A.M. Turing Award, ACM Prize in Computing, Fields Medal, IMU Abacus Medal and Nevanlinna Prize.
