Heidelberg Laureate Forum | VLOG@HLF23 PART THREE @LaureateForum | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 2 hours ago
It’s Wednesday at the #HLF23 so that can only mean one thing – the boat trip down the beautiful river Neckar! In today’s vlog we speak to László Lovász, who received the Abel Prize in 2021. We find out what it takes to win such a prize with Helge Holden, Chair of the Abel Prize committee, and Hiraku Nakajima, President of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and Chair of the committee that selects the Fields Medallists. And Yael Tauman Kalai, recipient of the 2022 ACM Prize in Computing, tells us about the importance of proof in computer science and reflects on people’s attitudes to mathematics.
In the Vlog, Marianne Freiberger and Rachel Thomas, editors of plus.maths.org, guide you through the days during the HLF, talking to participants and giving you a glimpse behind the scenes.
The 10th Heidelberg Laureate Forum took place from September 24–29, 2023. #HLF23
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) is an annual networking conference where 200 carefully selected young researchers in mathematics and computer science spend a week interacting with the laureates of the most prestigious awards in their disciplines: the Abel Prize, ACM A.M. Turing Award, ACM Prize in Computing, Fields Medal, IMU Abacus Medal and Nevanlinna Prize. The opinions expressed in the videos do not necessarily reflect the views of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation or any other person or associated institution involved in the making and distribution of these videos.
