Grants Pass TV Repair | Vizio TV. Inverter output shorted to ground from electric arc on lamps to chassis. @GrantsPassTVRepair | Uploaded 10 years ago | Updated 2 hours ago
http://www.tvrepairinfo.com/ This repair was on a Vizio LCD TV. Model number E470VLE. The inverter board numbers are 0500-0412-1210 or it may also be 050004121210.
This TV was brought in my shop with a shut down problem. When I pressed the power on button the TV would come on for 2 seconds. The Vizio logo would appear on the display and the TV would turn off. I first thought this was an inverter board problem until I replaced it and still had the same problem. Thinking I may have had some bad lamps in my back light or an arc over problem I added some additional resistance to the output side of my inverter transformers to trick the feedback circuit into not being able to detect a short, and noticed the TV stayed on longer. Seeing how hot my resistor became I replaced it with an additional CCFL from another TV and the TV back light stayed on. This convinced me that my back lights had some kind of issue, and when I disassembled the display I found the problem was an arc over short between the lamp holder and the metal chassis on the TV. .
