If you caught our last short, you know that the 2026 release of Alberta’s vital statistics has officially arrived at the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
This week, our team started unboxing the 1950 marriage registrations, and let’s just say… it’s not as simple as opening a book. These historic ledgers require a special key, tools, a steady hand, and a lot of patience. With many ledgers holding thousands of pages to work through, it’s a meticulous and time‑consuming effort. Ensuring records are gently handled, accurately processed, and ready for public access takes time, teamwork, and care.
We’ll continue sharing our progress preparing the vital statistics records in “reel” time as we move through processing the 1905 births, 1950 marriages, and 1975 deaths for public access.
