These newly transferred birth, death, and marriage registrations have been carefully removed from their original ledgers and rehoused in acid and lignin‑free archival storage boxes. You’ll see that our Archival Technicians have a big job ahead to scan all of these boxes of registrations to ensure that these widely used records are digitized, preserved and to make them more easily retrievable when requested!
Before these records can be scanned the documents are inspected to assess their condition to ensure they are stable enough to run through our high-speed scanner without risk of damage. Fasteners and stick pins found throughout the records are removed and pages that are folded need to be gently opened and flattened.
Once everything is prepped, it’s scanning time!
