CrossFit Games | Vision Division Athlete Tom du Preez, 46, Hits 225-lb Clean PR @CrossFitGamesTV | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
2024 Adaptive CrossFit Games rookie Tom du Preez was diagnosed as a teenager with choroideremia — a degenerative disease that leaves him with no peripheral vision, limited central vision, and night blindness.
In November 2021, Preez joined the community at CrossFit Noosa in Queensland, Australia, because he doesn’t let it “stop me from living an active life.”
“I attend a fantastic box, with incredibly supportive coaches, in a great community,” he said. “I use a cane to move around the busy city but not at the box. In fact, many at my box don’t realize I have a disability.”
At 46 years old, Preez qualified for his first CrossFit Games in the Men’s Vision division, and he hit a 1-rep-max clean PR of 225 lb during Event 3.
