The company's name, Snow, originates from the workshop owner's first name XuePing, which translates into Snow. XuePing was trained in China by the great violin making master, Quan Zheng. Quan Zheng studied in Cremona, Italy, thus XuePing's instruments are of the Italian style.

Finished by William Hu, Simona violas are made from select aged European tonewoods with a spirit and oil varnish mix for a very elegant and attractive appearance. They produce a graceful, warm tone and play with ease.

The Johnson String Instrument set-up includes precisely fitted high quality ebony pegs, a select ebony fingerboard planed for proper scoop, a Despiau "Superieur" bridge, the lightweight Wittner tailpiece, and Dominant D, G and C strings, with a Jargar A string. We finish it by adding a Guarneri style chinrest made from select ebony.

Performance by violist Colin Brookes.
