Julia Jostes and Simon Eberl established their workshop in the historic Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Germany in 2016. Both makers studied at the Mittenwald School of Violin Making, and continued training as makers and restorers in various workshops in France, Austria, and Germany. The couple's research has included participation in acoustical workshops presented by Claudia Fritz and George Stoppani in France, as well as in the Oberlin Summer Workshops sponsored by the Violin Society of America. Jostes & Eberl won a Silver Medal for their Quartet entered into the VSA competition of 2018.
