A neighbour asked if I could take alook at their son's old RC car so that their grandson could play with it. It worked but the steering servo was very loose and the ni-cd needed reviving to put out anything useful. The pots in the transmitter also needed cleaning as the steering pot caused bad interference when moved. After that it drives like it should. I sent him links to a cheap 3000 mAh ni-mh and fast charger for it.
As far as I can tell it's an early 90's car. Any of you guys own one of these?
It's slower than I epected. I expected it to at least go 20 km/h but this is more like 12-13 km/h. I guess that's why these cars last so long. The PCB inside has two FET's and two relays. I didn't bother tracing the board to find out how it worked. I just checked for bad caps and cracked solder before putting it back together. It looked fine inside.
It has two motors which look to be 380 size motors. The box says "390" motors. It's not a bad setup for durability and simplicity to have one motor for each axle.
