Maiden flight of my new Freewing 70 mm F-16. I bought the version without a motor and fan so I made my own and added a QX 3500 kv motor to fly on 4S 2800 mah. Weight is 1705 g, so 100 g less than specifications for the 4S version.
I like this motor for 4S 70 mm EDF planes: ebay.com/itm/254181348144?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338226872&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1
I also modified the nose retract and lowered the retract in order to dig out foam from the intake area to increase airflow.
I maidened with CG at 100 mm with gear down (90 mm in manual but my friend flies at ~110 mm) and it still needed a significant amount of up elevator trim.
The wind was horribly choppy so the light F-16 was thrown around, and when I tried to land it was being bumped up and down a lot so it was hard to get it to touch down softly.
After my maiden my friend flew his Freewing F-16 with the stock Freewing 6S fan. It's got more power.
