This bout from the 1967 European amateur boxing championships features two junior middleweight rivals from the now former Soviet Union.

Ageyev, a two time European champion, was undefeated in international competition in his whole amateur career. Lagutin was one of the most decorated amateurs of the era, winning the European championships twice, and Olympic Gold at both the 1964 games in Tokyo and the 1968 games in Mexico City, which came after winning the bronze medal at the 1960 games held in Rome.

These two fought four times in their illustrious careers, with two wins apiece.
