Europeans seem very confused by the fascination we Euro-Americans have with our ancestral homelands.
They just don’t understand why we often say we’re "from" or going "back” to a country we’ve never been to before.
I can’t explain it, but I do know what that draw feels like because I felt it before, during and after our visit to my ancestral fatherland of Vienna, Austria.
And I gotta say, I’m a little envious because it feels like Austrians have many of the same advantages that we have as Americans, but a lot more of the benefits.
