People across Oregon and beyond, as far south as San Francisco and as far north as Seattle, reported seeing a large meteor in the sky late Monday night.

“It looks like it was seen in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington,” said Bill Cook, the lead for NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office, or, as he puts it, “a space rock guy.”

Just before 11 p.m., videos from doorbell cameras to dashboard cameras show a dramatic fireball lighting up the night sky.
