A former Yakima police officer wanted in two killings has been found dead in Oregon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a high speed chase with police and crash; his 1-year-old son is safe, authorities said Tuesday afternoon.

Police had issued an Amber Alert on Monday night and said they were searching for Elias Huizar, 39, who was suspected of heading to Mexico with his young son after killing his ex-wife and another woman in West Richland, Washington. The second woman is believed to be Huizar’s teenage girlfriend.
