Victoria Dye, daughter of Joaquin Isaac Aceves and Refugio Aceves de Casteñeda, talks about her father, and the suit he wore to get married. After being wounded and captured by Mexican revolutionary, Pancho Villa, Aceves recuperated in a military hospital in the city of Juarez, Chichihua, just across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas. Once he recovered from the gunshot wound to his leg, Aceves escaped across the border into the US. Before he left the military hospital, and the country of Mexico, a young woman brought him a brand new suit of clothes. The suit had been worn by Pancho Villa during a "wedding" to the young lady. Villa had forced a priest to perform a marriage to the unwilling girl. The girl offered the suit to Aceves, Aceves accepted it gratefully because clothes were in short supply. Shortly after, Aceves escaped across the Rio Grande to El Paso, Texas. He and Refugio Casteñeda were married there and lived out their lives in the United States. Aceves, in fear for his life, never returned to Mexico.
