A VERY unusual triple presumably for a steam launch. One of TWO that were built as a mirrored pair, presumably for a twin-screw steam launch.
Some things that make it unusual;
The aforementioned mirrored pair.
Radial valve gear. An overwhelming majority of marine engines, especially in this size, have Stephenson Link valve gear.
The cylinders are cast with blind bottoms, meaning the bottom of the cylinders are integral with the main casting rather than a separate cylinder head. A practice more commonly found in much larger engines.
Lightweight castings. The patternmaker attempted to make the cast back columns as light as possible.
The fact that both engines survived and are in the same collection is wonderful. I hope they stay together in perpetuity.
