Vernon Gurruwiwi is a yidaki specialist who has been immersed in the ways of the didgeridoo since childhood.

He follows in the footsteps of his older brother Larry Gurruwiwi, his father Djalu Gurruwiwi, and grandfather Monyu Gurruwiwi in maintaining Galpu clan mastery of the instrument.

Vernon regularly assists his father Djalu in playing yidaki in ceremony as well as in masterclass contexts. He also plays yidaki for Barra West Wind band and was recently in the studio with other band members recording their debut album... keep an ear on the ground for its release this year in what is touted to be a critically acclaimed hit!
