In 2008 a team was led by Archaeologist Nicholas Conard from the University of Tübingen, they were responsible for the discovery of the Venus of Hohle Fels which is dated to be between 40,000 and 35,000 years old.
This is the oldest Venus figurine and the earliest undisputed representation of human figurative art discovered up until now.
The same team that discovered the Venus of Hohle Fels was responsible for discovering a bone flute in the cave dating from approximately 35,000 years ago and is among the earliest musical instruments ever found.
In 2015 there was a team that discovered 2 pieces of mammoth ivory that were carved and have been identified to be from a second female figurine, here you can see that discovery on the right, next to the Venus of Hohle Fels.

As you may understand, there isn’t much we can say about a figurine dating from nearly 40,000 years ago as we can’t be certain as to why it was created.
Historians believe it has to do fertility and that the Venus Figurines are a symbol for female fertility and beauty.
During the Ice Age around the time of the creation of the Venus of Hohle Fels it was extremely cold and having an excess of body fat would not only keep the body warm and help the female to survive, but this excess would also insure enough insulation to keep an unborn child alive in her womb and would provide for a source of energy through the weaning of the baby.

It was the ultimate sign of fertility and it had a significant function in emphasizing the health and survival of the women.
These statues may have been passed down from generation to generation, to be worn as amulets to help achieve the weight gain needed that would make them more successful in conceiving and carrying a healthy child, to survive the birth of the infant and to nurse a healthy baby.
The most famous Venus Statue is the Venus of Willendorf that was discovered at a Palaeolithic site near Willendorf in Austria in 1908.
