The story begins on the planet Klyntar, home to the symbiotes and birthplace of their creator, Knull, who remains imprisoned by his creations. The symbiotes turned against Knull, echoing the comics' lore from 2018’s *Venom* series. Andy Serkis, known for his mo-cap mastery and his role as Ulysses Klaue in the MCU, plays Knull in this narrative.
Knull sends his Xenophages to hunt down Eddie Brock and Venom, as they carry the Codex—a powerful entity that could grant Knull freedom. On Earth-616, Eddie and Venom find themselves back from the multiverse in a bar. A funny exchange follows, with Venom lamenting his "multiverse fatigue," a tongue-in-cheek nod to audiences weary of multiverse plots. After a series of events, Eddie learns he’s a wanted fugitive for the presumed death of Patrick Mulligan, forcing him and Venom to flee toward New York. The duo soon tangles with thugs running an underground dogfighting ring, allowing Venom to unleash his brutality before setting the dogs free.
Elsewhere, General Rex Strickland, portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is introduced as a character potentially linked to the comics’ “Sym-Soldier” program. Strickland is ordered to investigate Eddie and Venom, hinting at government interest in the symbiotes. Dr. Teddy Paine, haunted by childhood trauma, becomes involved in research on symbiotes, a subplot tied to Area 51’s secret activities.
Tension mounts when Mulligan, revived by the Imperium Project, warns about the impending danger Knull poses. A striking visual depicts Knull wielding the All-Black Necrosword, an infamous weapon in Marvel lore. In their escape, Eddie and Venom commandeer a plane but are attacked by a Xenophage. Venom possesses a horse to quicken their journey, providing a light-hearted moment before a confrontation with mercenaries leads them to a family of hippies en route to Area 51.
