Vega Archipelago is a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site in Norway. A collection of several thousand islands just off the central Norwegian coast, for centuries it was home to small fishing villages, sealers, whalers, and an amazing co-dependent relationship between humans and eider ducks. Although eider ducks are found in various locations around the world, here in the Vega Archipelago humans would protect the ducks from predators, before taking their discarded down feathers and turning them into warm quilts.
