wildimagesonline.com - GoPro Aardvark. Varkie the aardvark, aka the earth pig (aard = earth, vark = pig in Afrikaans) is an orphaned baby African ant bear.
His mother was most likely killed on the farm where he was born. On certain farms aardvarks are considered pests and killed at random. Varkie was found in a hole all by himself and bought to Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary when he was a few weeks old.
Each day he is taken out for a walk where he can exercise and forage for food. Digging into termite mounds being his favorite activity.
On his return home he is fed a nutritious milk shake of kitty formula, water and cat pellets all blended together
