#Citrus flush is EXTREMELY vulnerable to leaf miner and psyllids, which typically damage 90-100% of leaves.
AEA Agronomist / tropical fruit farmer Shelley Katz CCA used AEA nutrition to build plant resistance in her grove, and ran an accidental experiment when she forgot about a few trees 😁.
➡️ The two trees shown are roughly 30 feet apart.
➡️ Both are in irrigated beds, with perennial hedges providing abundant organic matter.
➡️ They’re both in part shade below bananas, and were planted at the same time.
➡️ These trees got no insecticides, no soap, no neem, no covering; no protection except nutrition!
A month ago, Shelley pruned the treated Valencia and started making nutrient applications to protect the new flush.
The untreated got no nutrition.
While the untreated tree wasn't pruned, you can see how the leaf miners chewed through the recent flush on those trees.
