The best version I have ever heard of Debussy's fifth piece from "Children's Corner Suite", 'The Little Shepherd'' is performed here by Sergei Kvitko ~ sergeikvitko.com & bluegriffin.com/index.php/BGR-Artists/Sergei-Kvitko.html
This work is, arguably, somewhat harsh (but still soft, in my opinion) but its harmonies are lovely. Ever the "symbolist", Debussy paints a picture with the keyboard, evoking misty, dream-like "memories" of country life...
The wonderful CD can be purchased at bluegriffin.com/index.php/Compact-Disks/Of-Lands-and-People-Far-Away/flypage.tpl.html or at Amazon ~ amazon.com/Lands-People-Far-Away/dp/B001DQYCCW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1265068116&sr=1-1
