About Stephanie's Workshop:
The aim of this workshop is to capture the vibrant atmosphere that can be found in and around
the Mercado de San Telmo. We will look at creating playful line based sketch
compositions, with a focus on people, market stalls, signage, and the surrounding architecture, all of which define that spirit of place.
Using a step-by-step process, we will observe these characteristics of place and look at how these can be embedded in a series of sketches. We will learn about where to locate detail and leave blank spaces, with a focus on how to simplify complex scenes while generating energy in a composition.
This workshop will be open to most skill sets and levels of experience as using
rules of thumb for one-point perspective will be the only technical requirement.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will understand the importance of observation, and how to represent a feeling of place with selective content in sketches that tell stories about life at the market.
