Professors Audrey van der Meer and Ruud van der Weel from the University of Norway in 2017 asked this question, "Are different parts of the brain active when we type on a keyboard as opposed to when we draw visual images on a tablet?"
This study used an EEG sensor array to record the brain activity of people drawing and typing on a Surface Pro. The results shed light on the differences between drawing and typing. And this led to further research examining the differences between writing, drawing and typing.
This research further demonstrates the importance of handwriting in the digital age.
