If you've been using too much laundry detergent for too long, you'll also have a detergent buildup in your washing machine, too! To resolve this, use a washing machine cleaner (some of the most common brands available in the U.S. are Affresh, Active, Glisten, and Lemi Shine) and follow the directions on the packaging of the one you purchase. You may have to run SEVERAL cleaning cycles on your washer back-to-back to get rid of it, but once you do that and start using less detergent, your clothes will look and smell SO much cleaner than before!
