The Alnwick Garden is a stunning and unconventional garden located in the town of Alnwick, Northumberland and was created by The Duchess of Northumberland in 2001. Featuring one of the largest cherry tree orchards in the world, as well as a breathtaking waterfall that is flanked by hornbeam hedges trained over vast pergolas which you can walk through, the Alnwick Garden is a beautiful place to visit.
Maintaining the impressive grounds to such a high standard is a challenge for the team of gardeners, but using STIHL cordless power tools has made the job a bit easier in recent years. STIHL visited them to find out more about how they used them.
When The Alnwick Gardens was initially designed, it was estimated that around 60,000 visitors would visit each year but in recent years the footfall has been around 400,000 visitors. Maintaining the gardens with a regular flow of guests can be really challenging as guests are expecting a peaceful and quiet environment. Tasks such as cutting the hornbeams can take around 8 weeks on their own whilst maintaining all the hedges on the grounds take approximately 4 months of the year so there’s work going on all year round.
With the use of STIHL battery power tools, the team at The Alnwick Garden have found their working day runs a lot smoother.
