When you share a single power supply between digital and analog rails, or between analog and voltage reference pins, the cleanliness of that rail decides whether your ADC readings are trustworthy or contaminated with noise. Switching regulators introduce ripple and high-frequency switching noise that couples directly into sensitive analog circuitry and voltage reference inputs, degrading measurement accuracy and resolution. The fix is straightforward: keep switching regulators off your analog and voltage reference supply pins, and use a low dropout regulator (LDO) instead to deliver the clean, low-noise rail those pins need.
