From sunrise to sunset, the crew of the Kimball stands the watch, scanning the horizon for the cartel vessels that are smuggling illegal narcotics into the United States. The cutter and crew have the capability to quickly launch small-boats, helicopters, and surveillance drones in their mission to interdict drug traffickers.
Homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Kimball is the 7th multi-mission National Security Cutter. With a range of 13,000 nautical miles, the advanced technologies of the cutter are used to support the Coast Guard's mission to maintain the security of America’s maritime boundaries, engage in critical Law Enforcement operations, and provide long-range search and rescue capabilities.
