Have you ever seen a rescue swimmer on a wind turbine? Now you have! A rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City participated in a search and rescue exercise 27 miles off the coast of Virginia with Dominion Energy and Coast Guard Sector Virginia on October 17, 2023. During the training, a rescue swimmer was lowered onto the powered-down wind turbine, rendezvoused with technicians from Dominion Energy, lowered the stokes litter, and simulated a rescue.
