US LAUNCHES 'COPYCAT WAR' ON CHINA APPS
Chinese video editing app CapCut disappeared from 90 million users' screens on Sunday—but Meta, which is launching a copycat app called Edits, was not ready to snatch the market.

Too late!

Now CapCut is reappearing, along with its sister apps TikTok, Lemon8 and others.

Meta's app, called Edit, appears to be an exact copy of the Chinese instant editing program – but is still weeks away from launch.

CapCut has started re-appearing on screens in the US today, after Donald Trump's people gave Bytedance a 90 day reprieve.

In June of 2020, the US tried to ban TikTok and India did ban it – and Meta launched a copycat app, called Instagram Reels, in July.

Since then, multiple US media units, from YouTube to Facebook to X dotcom, launched apps that copied the look, feel, and functionality of the popular Chinese app.
