October 29, 2012: The U.S. Coast Guard sent a C-130 aircraft and two helicopters to rescue the crew and passengers from the HMS Bounty tall ship which was sailing from Connecticut to St. Petersburg when it encountered large waves and heavy wind from Hurricane Sandy. The ship began taking on water and the captain decided to abandon ship. The captain and one crew member was washed into the water while trying to transfer to life boats, while 14 others were plucked from the water.
