The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated a passenger from a cruise ship 50 miles southwest of Point Loma on November 4, 2012. The Carnival Inspiration cruise ship contacted the Coast Guard yesterday shortly before noon requesting a medevac for a 26 year old man who was experiencing rapid heart rate and possible cardiac complications. Coast Guard Sector San Diego dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to fly to the cruise ship to perform the medevac. The aircrew hoisted the man and the ship's nurse to the helicopter and transported them to San Diego, where they transferred the ill man to emergency medical personnel.
