In this Minecraft Tutorial I show you some simple upgrades to Ethos' Hopper Clock. His seven year old design is still used today, but suffers from one major drawback. That drawback is that the maximum duration is four minutes and 16 seconds for a full cycle. That means if you need, for example, a five minute timer to know when you can bread animals again, this clock doesn't work. While there are some ways to get around this issue such as stringing multiple hopper clocks together or setting up a system to track multiple hopper-clock-cycles, those are a little convoluted.
What my upgrade does, is while maintaining the hopper-clock precision of being able to make clocks as precise as 0.4 second increments, it allows an appreciably infinite duration. That is, instead of being limited to four minutes and 16 seconds, you can set up your hopper clock to be five minutes, 20 minutes, 10 hours, 3 days... whatever it is that you like or need. That 20 minute timer also makes it very easy to create trigger to automatically kill animals once they have grown into adults. Being able to make a counter in a nice round number (such as 10 minutes) also allows you to know how long you were able to afk before getting kicked from the server without needing to break out a calculator, or do precise long term tests on your farms if you don't have access to tick warping or other mods. It also lets you confirm your farms/builds are working as well in your survival world as they do in your test world as this clock will let you know exactly how long your farm has been loaded for so you can check your actual drops against the theoretical rates you were expecting.
