America’s 250th birthday, Ford Hangar’s 100th anniversary, and 25 years since 9/11 make 2026 a milestone year, says the Village of Lansing administration. The Lansing Village Board spent about 30 minutes at their February 3 Committee of the Whole meeting considering a proposal for an enhanced fireworks display this summer.
The proposed show combines fireworks and lighted drones that can be programmed to add patriotic symbols to a pyrotechnics display.
The meeting also included a public comment by Darlene Kadar, sister of former Lansing Municipal Airport Manager Bob Malkas. Malkas had offered suggestions in response to the cancellation of the 2024 Lansing fireworks show managed by Lan-Oak Park District.
