Want your Tadpole to recharge its power automatically using sunlight? In this Subnautica 2 tutorial, I'll show you exactly where to find the Photovoltaic Charger upgrade blueprint and walk you through the wreck containing it step by step.
The Photovoltaic Charger is a Tadpole upgrade that lets your vehicle recharge its Power Cell while traveling through shallow water during the daytime, making it extremely useful for conserving power during long exploration trips.
We're starting from the Alien Ruins Beacon, also known as the Alien Research Outpost, which is currently the furthest human facility to the east.
From the Alien Research Outpost:
1. Face heading 120 on your compass
2. Travel southeast until you reach the EVA Suit Prep Wreckage
This location is also commonly referred to as the:
Cicada Wreck - EVA Prep
Once you reach the wreck, head around to the large entrance on the eastern side.
⚠️ BRING A REPAIR TOOL
Just inside the wreck you'll find a damaged door that needs to be repaired before you can continue deeper into the facility.
After repairing the door:
➡️ Continue through the connected rooms
➡️ Follow the natural path through the wreck
➡️ Look for a tunnel leading downward
➡️ Follow the tunnel until it opens into a large curved room
Once you enter the curved room, immediately look toward the:
RIGHT SIDE
There should be a hole in the wall leading into a small hidden cubby area.
Head through the opening and listen carefully.
You'll hear the distinctive beeping sound from the blueprint data box.
Follow the sound toward the back of the cubby and you'll find the Photovoltaic Charger blueprint inside a broken shipping container.
Collect the blueprint and you'll permanently unlock the Photovoltaic Charger upgrade for your Tadpole.
