Professor Sir Ian Chapman (UKRI CEO) and Professor Michele Dougherty (STFC Executive Chair) provide an update on work to set budgets within the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
Despite a record settlement from Government to UKRI, and a stable core budget allocation for STFC, its operating costs are forecast to rise significantly due to factors including increased energy costs, unfavourable foreign exchange fluctuations, higher staffing costs and an expanded portfolio of activities.
To become sustainable, and continue to deliver cutting-edge results, STFC will need to reduce its operational costs. Opportunities have been identified to streamline activity while protecting core capability.
