The gameplay is similar to the Prop Hunt modes you might see in TF2, GMOD or COD, in that these boxes are supposed to hide in crate filled maps. Crates also appear to have damage reduction, while the first person camera is lower to the ground. One major difference from those more modern prop hunt modes though is that crates can use any weapons.

Unfortunately, the mod does not add any bots with crate models. In turn, when you play with bots, you'll be the only crate on the map. I attempted add some custom bots with box textures, but it didn't work.

CrateDM was created by Mark 'Nexx" Hurst. Apprently, Nexx_au was planning on adding a crate gun to the mod:
