Welcome to my series on learning Unreal Engine for @AdobeCreativeCloud After Effects users.
I've been learning how to use @UnrealEngine the free to use gaming engine which is being used more and more for video production. It's an awesome, exciting tool with a really steep initial learning curve. But once you understand the basics, you'll suddenly find you can do so much, so easily, especially if you also set up @quixeltools bridge and use their megascans assets.
Other videos on this subject assume you either know Unreal and want to start video production, or you want to use Unreal to make games. This video assumes you don't know Unreal at all and want to use it to make videos! Getting started with the software is actually quite simple and far less intimidating once you know what to do. That's the point of this video, as I take you through registering for an account, installing the software, adding your first assets and texturing a landscape and changing the lighting.

![Recreating Doug Trumbull’s Slitscan VFX | After Effects Mastery
In this After Effects tutorial, Im diving into the legendary slitscan effect. While Doug Trumbull used a massive mechnical righ and long-exposure photography to create the Ultimate Trip, Ill show you how to build the same look much more easily using *Essential Graphics*, the *Offset effect* and *3D layers*.
In this video, youll learn:
- How to use the Offset effect with a simple expression for continuous motion.
- How to use Essential Graphics to control the speed and images
- 3D layers to create two infinite plains.

![How to get Uniform Scale Wiggle in After Effects
An Expressions tutorial.
The wiggle expression is a great way to introduce randomness to your image, solid or shape in After Effects, but when applied to scale it wobbles both dimensions separately. What happens if you want to wiggle them both together?
Dont worry, its a simple solution and just requires a little bit of understanding about how the Wiggle Expression works.

![Recreating the Genesis Effect from Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan
An Adobe After Effects tutorial
KHAAAAAAAAAN!
In this video, I look at how to recreate the iconic Genesis Effect as simulated by some of the very first CGI in movies. Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan (1982) used a Cray supercomputer to render the minute long sequence. The shot was reused in both Star Trek III : The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV : The Voyage Home, so you know it must have been good. In the sequence, a torpedo is fired into dead moon, which is quickly covered in fiery particles. Then the surface glow fades to see greenery and water appear on the surface before pulling back to reveal an M-class world with clouds.
It’s an awesome sequence and the hardest part turned out to be the camera move, which I had to give up on, still I think I capture the feeling of it. The tutorial only uses the included effects and one plug-in, the free Orb effect from @VideoCopilot. It’s a long tutorial and I have focussed more on the techniques involved rather than trying to match everything exactly.
