The timber I had on the lathe Sunday night was badly split into 4 pieces which meant it wasn't really worth sensible turning. So it became a muck about with various tools, and a deliberate dramatic catch (don't worry I will extract that bit into a short!)
But I enjoyed making it so decided to make a proper one.. Yes I know a plastic one from the pound shop makes more sense, but where is the fun in that!
