This former Rock Island route from St. Paul, MN to Mason City, IA is a part of the Union Pacific's line to Kansas City. Lots of U.P. action is captured on what is known as "The Spine Line" as the big yellow locomotives haul heavy freight and coal on this busy corridor. With footage captured in 2005 and 2013, many of UP's EMD's are seen, along with their big GE's. One of which is an original CNW unit prior to being patched or painted. Another highlight is a sand train being pulled by 3 ex Southern Pacific GE's! We even see a train passing what is now the only standing railroad tower left in the state.
