The year 2026 marks America's semiquincentennial on the signing of the Declaration of Independence, signifying the United States of America as a separate entity from Great Britain. To celebrate this occasion, Union Pacific is running Big Boy 4014 on a coast to coast tour, which will take the engine from Sacramento, CA to a July 4th celebration in Philadelphia, PA. The tour began on March 29, 2026, when 4014 left the UP Steam Shop in Cheyenne, WY, kicking off the Western Leg of the tour.
Roseville, CA was the main destination for the Western Leg of the tour, and the video begins with the 4014 rolling out the final miles of its westbound trip and it rolls down the Feather River Canyon, and through the Sacramento Valley on April 9. After arriving into Roseville, the 4014 would make a deadhead run to Sacramento and the California State Railroad Museum for a private company/press event call "Milepost 0". This event would mark the official beginning of 4014's eastward journey, and you'll see all the activity occurring on this day in views that are only available through Dynamo Productions.
You'll see the large crowds that have gathered to see the 4014 on display in Roseville, as well as close up views of SD70Ms 1616 and 1776, that have accompanied the Big Boy on its trip out west. Roseville had SPMW Rotary Snowplow 222 on display, and its demonstration at the end of the display event was a strong indication of the events that would occur the following day.
Due to a heavy storm dropping up to four feet of snow over Donner Summit, the 4014 would begin its trip east out of Roseville on a return through the Feather River Canyon. In driving rain, sleet, snow, and through a speed restriction, the 4014 and its crew put on a dramatic performance. Its run up the valley had its own series of challenge, and informative text keep you in the action of all the dramatic events that unfolded.
After laying over in Portola for a day, the final views of the program take you trackside for a fast out of California, as it leaves the Golden State behind for the vast expanses of the Nevada Desert.
The Eastern Leg of Union Pacific 4014's Coast-To-Coast Tour will begin on May 25, 2026.

The Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad operates as part of the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. The CP&LE opened in 1963 and celebrates its 60th anniversary this season. Ride and follow along this theme park mainstay, with some of the worlds top roller coasters in sight.
Cedar Point & Lake Erie operates four different steam locomotives, all former industrial tank engines converted to 2-4-0 wheel arrangement. The 22, Myron H, is the locomotive featured in this video, a 1922-built Vulcan engine first operated for the Wayne Coal Company in Ohio. The engine arrived at CP&LE in 1963, and has been a mainstay of the railroad since the 1990s.

Steam returns to the Walkersville Southern Railroad of Walkersville, Maryland. Beginning operations in 1991, this tourist operation runs on four miles of former Pennsylvania Railroad line towards Frederick. This all volunteer railroad has made considerable efforts over the years, having rebuilt the line south across the Monocacy River, and has even rebuilt trackage north.
Jeddo Coal Company 0-4-0T 85 makes its first post-pandemic runs for three weekends of trips. This Vulcan tank engine is one of several engines operated by the Gramlings, and is trucked to various tourist railroads around the country for specials and events. The 85 put on a great show on the railroads regular tourist trains as well as a special photo freight to commemorate the Walkersville Southerns 30th anniversary.

Nestled in the piney woods of Eastern Texas is the Texas State Railroad. The route runs from Palestine, through Maydelle and terminates in Rusk, Texas at the railroad shops are. The line was built in 1883 by inmates to haul raw materials for a smelter in the Rusk prison. Regular service terminated in 1921, and was then leased to private companies until 1969. In 1972, the line was given to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and was turned into a tourist railroad. In that time, the railroad acquired many pieces of historic railroad equipment, including numerous steam locomotives. With rolling grades and long stretches of straight trackage, trains really get a chance to perform at speed.
In this video, we follow Tremont & Gulf 30, a 1917 built Baldwin 2-8-2. This Mikado served the T&G until 1954, when it was sold to the Magma Arizona Railroad and renumbered 7. In 1974 the engine was sent to the Texas State Railroad, and operated as TSR 400 until 2002. In 2012, the engine was restored and operated as Magma Arizona 7 until 2017, when it became 30 in a T&G inspired look.
This video would be filmed on the last weekend the engine ran as TSR 30. Shortly after, it would be backdated as 400.")

Deep in the Appalachian spine of West Virginia lies the small town of Cass, home to the world-famous Cass Scenic Railroad. The railroad is home to the worlds largest collection of geared Shay steam locomotives, a form of geared locomotive meant for tackling sharp curves, steep grades, and poor track conditions. These geared wonders are just as unique looking as their purpose and have garnered quite the following over the decades. And for the geared steam locomotive fan, Cass is the mecca. Built in 1901 the town was constructed to log the forests on Back Allegheny Mountain, in particular, the Red Spruce trees found primarily at the higher elevations.
Now the railroad is used to haul tourists, not timber. And this little 11 mile long stretch of treacherously steep mountain railroading and the geared marvels that toil these tracks are the draw for thousands of people every year. Join us on the Journey to Bald Knob.")
