Located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, steam locomotive number 844 has had an exciting career. You see, it is the only operating steam locomotive in the United States that has never been retired since it was built in 1944.
Come join the steam crew with scenes of the 844 from factory delivery to the present date operation. You will see scenes of these magnificent machines working the high iron of the Union Pacific mainlines.
Over the years, this video & another depicting the history UP 3985 were updated periodically with newer narration & additional sections over a few year span, beginning in the early 1990s. This being the 1997 version of this show, with updated narration & additional sections.
